Eight doubles and Chase DeLauter's second consecutive home run helped the Akron RubberDucks to an 8-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves in seven rain-shortened innings on Friday night at UPMC Park.

Turning point

Akron's offense got rolling with two outs in the first inning. DeLauter kept the inning alive with a single before scoring on a double to center by Kahlil Watson to put the RubberDucks up 1-0. Aaron Bracho followed with a single to left to score Watson and put Akron up 2-0.

Hill presence

Tommy Mace started for Akron and got into trouble early, allowing a two-run home run in the second inning, but the right-hander quickly returned to form, finishing the second inning and throwing a perfect third inning. Erie managed a run against Mace in the fourth inning and loaded the bases to chase him away in the fifth. Alaska Abney came in in the fifth inning and managed a ground out to get out of the jam. In total, Mace managed four and two-thirds, allowing three runs with a strikeout. Abney threw a scoreless sixth inning and finished his night with one inning and a third with a strikeout. Zane Morehouse managed a scoreless seventh inning.
