Chilton Co. receives new incident response trailer for emergencies

CHILTON COUNTY, Alabama (WBRC) – Chilton County officials unveiled a new emergency trailer Friday to help them better respond to natural disasters and public safety emergencies.

The district administration said this would be of great benefit to the citizens of the district.

This impressive device was made possible through the collaboration of ALEA, Homeland Security, Chilton County Commission, Chilton County Sheriff's Office, EMA and 911.

The trailer will be equipped with cutting-edge technology the county has never had before, allowing it to communicate with other agencies and respond to incidents on-site with various county emergency departments.

“There is an ongoing effort to focus on public safety in this county, not only from the 911 center's perspective, but also from the sheriff's and EMA's perspective. It's more of a joint public safety effort where dispatchers will be on site, EMA will handle coordination with various agencies, and the sheriff's office will handle law enforcement responsibilities,” said Trae Caton, interim director of the 911 center.

All this was made possible by a scholarship from ALEA.

The county did not have to raise any funds to purchase the trailer and will apply for additional grants for the equipment.
