Plymouth man accused of patricide pleads not guilty, allegedly made murder threats – Fall River Reporter

PLYMOUTH – A Plymouth man is being held without bail on suspicion of murdering his 73-year-old father, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced.

On Friday, 26-year-old Matthew Paluzzi pleaded not guilty to one count of murder in Plymouth District Court. The charges followed an investigation by the Massachusetts State Police and Plymouth Police into the fatal stabbing attack of 73-year-old Anthony Paluzzi.

Just before 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, Plymouth Police received a 911 call from the victim's wife at 15 Cedar Road. She reported a man unconscious and bleeding from an apparent cut on his neck. The caller reported that the victim was covered in blood and a kitchen knife was found near the front door. Plymouth Police and EMS responded and Anthony Paluzzi was pronounced dead.

Plymouth Police contacted Massachusetts State Police, assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office, and began an investigation. Plymouth Police issued a report on Matthew Paluzzi and a motor vehicle, a 2017 Nissan Murano. A motorist identified the vehicle traveling in Kingston and called 911. Hanover Police and Massachusetts State Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of ​​Columbia Road, and the driver, Matthew Paluzzi, was arrested. He had obvious blood stains on his clothing, and a swab of his hands returned a presumptive positive blood result.

According to WHDH, Matthew Paluzzi's brother heard him threatening to kill his father at a family gathering. His mother also noticed that his mental state had changed recently. Matthew Paluzzi is said to have told police that he had lost his mind. He has had dealings with the police before.

The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has assumed jurisdiction and will determine the cause of death.

Paluzzi is currently being held without bail. His next court date is scheduled for October 2.
