Man dies in shooting near Smale Park, police say

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A man is dead following a shooting near Smale Park Friday night, according to Cincinnati police.

Officers said they were called to the 100 block of Elm Street around 10:45 p.m. because a person had been shot.

When officers arrived, they found 29-year-old John Banks III with numerous gunshot wounds, police said.

Officials said firefighters and emergency medical services attempted to attempt life-saving measures, but Banks III died at the scene.

Police have not yet said whether they have a suspect.

Officials are still investigating the shooting.
