George Santos reportedly wants to plead guilty in fraud case

Disgraced former New York Rep. George Santos will plead guilty to 23 counts in his election fraud case on Monday, according to several GOP donors who claim they were defrauded by Santos, who Talking Points Memo. “They told me he was pleading guilty on Monday,” one donor told TPM after prosecutors notified them. “He should be held fully accountable, and he is pretty guilty as far as I can tell. I know for a fact he lied to my face.” Santos is charged with conspiracy, wire fraud, making false statements to the FEC, forgery, aggravated identity theft, access device fraud, wire fraud, money laundering, theft of public funds and making false statements to the U.S. House of Representatives, according to an October indictment. Santos had previously pleaded not guilty in October, but then his former campaign fundraiser Sam Miele took a plea deal in November related to the wire fraud charges related to Santos' campaign. Joseph Murray, Santos' attorney, did not respond to TPM's request for comment.
