Tucson police identify man shot in fight

Tucson police have determined the identity of a 46-year-old man who was shot and killed in a fight early Friday morning.

Aaron Taber Boatner was killed and two other men were injured in the shooting, which occurred during a fight just before 4 a.m. near North Stone Avenue and West Speedway, Tucson police said in a news release Saturday.

The first injured person police found was an unidentified 57-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries, the press release said.

Officers then found Boatner nearby. Despite life-saving measures, he died at the scene of the accident, the press release states.

Officers searching the area then found a third man who had been shot near a home on North Sixth Avenue, the release said. The unidentified 44-year-old man was shot in the lower extremities and taken to the hospital, where he was still in stable condition, the release said.

Investigators believe there was an altercation involving several people, during which someone opened fire, hitting Mr. Boatner and the 57-year-old man.

The shooters left the area, but got into an argument with the 44-year-old man as they passed the house on North Sixth Avenue and subsequently shot him, the press release said.

The armed men fled before the police arrived.

The investigation is ongoing, but no one has been arrested yet.
