Anastacia Lyn Newkirk: What happened to the famous pop star and where she is now

Anastacia Lyn Newkirk – better known as Anastacia – has been a staple at school pickups and drop-offs, road trips and club nights since the release of her first two albums. Not this kind (2000) and Freak of nature (2001).

But while she was performing, I have no love left She was introduced to audiences around the world and received great critical success and praise, but she also struggled with myriad health problems.

Anastacia was first diagnosed with Crohn’s disease – an inflammatory bowel disease – at the age of 13.

At the height of her fame in 2002, when she was 34 years old, the singer was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She had gone to the doctor to undergo breast reduction surgery because of a back injury, and a routine mammogram during the surgery discovered the cancer.

Anastacia immediately underwent radiation therapy and surgery, which successfully removed the cancer.

Five years later, at the age of 39, Anastacia was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia, a general term for rapid heart rhythms in the upper part of the heart.

Nevertheless, she continued to perform while battling her devastating diagnoses.

Anastacia's health fears inspired her to create the Anastacia Fund with the goal of raising awareness of breast cancer among younger women.

Her breast cancer diagnosis also inspired her to change her melody for her third album, and she told The Box In 2005, she discovered that the treatments had left her voice with the power she was known for and she could no longer record music, so she spent a lot of time writing her songs and trying to create a sound she was happy with.

Through the marriage, Anastacia became the stepmother to his two children from a previous relationship, but the couple filed for divorce in April 2010.

Over a decade after her initial diagnosis, in February 2013, Anastacia announced that she was battling breast cancer for the second time.

This time the breast cancer was worse and Anastacia was forced to cancel her upcoming European tour to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.

“It's been an intense journey, but I feel great and ready to start the next chapter,” she wrote in a statement at the time.

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives everyone facing this disease the chance to gain strength and support from one another. Early detection saved my life twice. I will continue to fight and raise my voice wherever I can.”

Because of her philanthropic work and decades of charitable dedication to raising breast cancer awareness, Anastacia made history in 2013 when she became the second woman to win the Humanitarian Award. GQ Awarded as “Men of the Year”.

Anastacia, now 55, still performs today and won The Masked Singer Australia in October 2021, becoming the first American singer to do so.

While she suggested in a 2021 interview that evolution (2017) was to be her last album, in February 2022 she released the single American Nightthe title song of the 2021 film of the same name.

In September 2022, she launched her I'm out of lockdown: The 22nd anniversary tour She reconnected with her fans across Europe and the UK and welcomed her new musical era.
