Lincoln County man arrested for attempted murder

LINCOLN CO., Ky. (WKYT) – A man was arrested in Lincoln Co. Saturday afternoon after police say he hit a woman with a stolen car.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said it was called to a disturbance on Cemetery Road this morning.

An investigation revealed that a male suspect, Sherril Padgett of Waynesburg, had broken into a woman's home and stolen the keys to a truck.

Officials say there was a scuffle before Padgett took control of the truck and drove over the victim's legs while fleeing the scene. Officers found Padgett behind the wheel of the vehicle on US-27. Officials say he fled from officers and was taken into custody near Somerset.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lincoln Co. Emergency Services.

Padgett is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence of alcohol and theft by unauthorized taking. He is currently being held at the Casey County Detention Center.
