JUST ARRIVED: Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner and Wife Regain Freedom

Patrick Mba, Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, and his wife were released by their abductors after spending a day in captivity.

A reliable senior government official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed the development to our correspondent on Saturday evening, adding that the commissioner and his wife regained their freedom on Saturday.

“The abducted youth development officer and his wife were released today. Glory be to God. The state government will issue a statement on this shortly,” the source added.

Some armed men abducted the commissioner along with his wife at an undisclosed location along the Edo-Kogi expressway on Friday. The men were on their way to Abuja to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, which took place on Saturday.

They are said to have been traveling with other passengers in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus.

According to the findings, one of the commissioner's employees, who was also on the trip with him, was killed.

An official statement from the state government on this development is still pending.

Information about their release was also published on the social media of some government officials.
