Anambra Commissioner and wife regain their freedom

Kidnapped Anambra State Youth Development Commissioner Patrick Mba and his wife have been released by their abductors.

Their release was communicated to Punch by a reliable senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity on Saturday evening.

The source said the commissioner and his wife were released on Saturday.

“The abducted youth development officer and his wife were released today. Glory be to God. The state government will issue a statement on this shortly,” the source added.

Mba was abducted along with his wife on Friday at an undisclosed location along the Edo-Kogi Expressway while on their way to Abuja to attend the wedding of Adaora, daughter of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, which took place on Saturday.

They are said to have been traveling with other passengers in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus.

According to the findings, one of the commissioner's employees, who was also on the trip with him, was killed.

An official statement from the state government on this development is still pending.
