By Kachi Ekile

Patrick Aghamba, Commissioner for Youth Development in Anambra State, and his wife have regained their freedom after being abducted by armed men.

Daily Sun reported that Aghamba and his wife kidnapped on Friday, while his assistant was murdered by the kidnappers.

The Anambra State Government on Sunday provided an update on the couple's release. Christian Aburime, press secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, said Aghamba and his wife were released on Saturday evening.

Aburime said no ransom was paid and attributed the release to divine intervention.

“The commissioner and his wife were released by the special grace of God. We were able to secure his release and no ransom was paid,” he said.

Aghamba, his wife and his assistant were on their way to the wedding ceremony of Adaora, the daughter of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, scheduled for Saturday when they were kidnapped.
