Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner and his wife regain their freedom

Patrick Mba, Commissioner for Youth Development in Anambra State, and his wife were released by their captors after spending hours in captivity.

A reliable senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity disclosed the development to TVC News in Awka.

He said the commissioner and his wife regained their freedom on Saturday evening.

“The kidnapped youth development officer and his wife were released today. Glory be to God. The state government will issue a statement on this shortly,” the source revealed.

Some armed men abducted the commissioner along with his wife at an undisclosed location along the Edo-Kogi expressway on Friday. The men were on their way to Abuja to attend the wedding of Adaora, the daughter of the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, which took place on Saturday.

They are said to have been traveling with other passengers in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus.

According to the findings, one of the commissioner's employees, who was also on the trip with him, was killed.

An official statement from the state government on this development is still pending.
