According to reports obtained by the Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM), six prisoners were secretly executed in Qazvin Central Prison in August 2024. The exact date of the executions is currently under investigation.

According to a reliable source, six prisoners were executed in the Central Prison in Qazvin during the current calendar month. The identities of four of them have been confirmed. The identities of the male prisoners: Vahid Ebrahimzadeh, Vahid Soltanabadi, Amir Hossein Bagherieh and Hamid Behmazek have been confirmed by this source. The identities of the two female prisoners have not been confirmed at the time of this press release and are currently under investigation.

Vahid Ebrahimzadeh and Vahid Soltanabadi were charged with drug-related offences, which led to their arrest and subsequent death sentence. The other two male prisoners, Amir Hossein Bagherieh and Hamid Behmazek, were arrested for murder and sentenced to death. The charges against the two female prisoners are still unclear.

The same informed source further stated that at least 31 prisoners were secretly executed in Qazvin Central Prison (Choubindar) over the past year and a half. And these executions were not registered or reported anywhere.

The execution of these six prisoners was carried out in secret, and neither the state-run nor the judiciary-affiliated media in Iran reported on these executions. The executions were carried out in silence and under a media blackout.
