Sumter woman arrested for murder after morning argument

A domestic dispute turned deadly in Sumter early Sunday morning, leading to the arrest of a local woman for murder.

According to SCPD officials, officers were called to a residence on Putter Drive just before 6:30 a.m., where they discovered 23-year-old Jasmine Symone Woods inside the home. A man, later identified as 34-year-old Antoin Pugh, was found lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.

Pugh was treated at the scene before being transported to Prisma Health Tuomey, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Initial reports indicate that Woods and Pugh were previously in a relationship. Authorities believe the estranged couple had an argument before the fatal shooting. Woods, who lives at a different address on Putter Drive, was taken into custody and booked into the county jail.

The investigation is ongoing as officials attempt to reconstruct the events that led to the tragedy.
