Motorcyclist Brak Hayhurst killed in two-vehicle crash in Canton Twp.

CANTON TWP. – A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Faircrest Street SW and Dueber Avenue SW Friday evening.

Brak V. Hayhurst, 47, of Canton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said. He was riding a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Deuber at 11:15 p.m. when he collided at the intersection with a westbound 2006 Subaru driven by Nicole A. Christman, 21, of Canton, the patrol said.

Hayhurst was not wearing a helmet at the time, police said. Christman, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured.

Alcohol or drug abuse are not believed to have played a role in the accident; the accident remains under investigation.

Canton Township Fire and EMS, Stark County Coroner's Office and Rupple's Towing were on scene to assist.

Hayhurst is the third motorcyclist to die in a crash this week. Timothy Carpenter, 37, of Canton, died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash in Perry Township. And Devin Wile, 24, of Navarre died Tuesday in a one-vehicle crash after hitting a tree on the road in Bethlehem Township.
