Road rage shooting in Cambridge, MA, Sunday near MIT boathouse – NBC Boston

According to police, one person is in custody following a road rage shooting on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Sunday.

It was not immediately clear what led to the shooting, which occurred near the MIT Sailing Pavilion on the Charles River. Massachusetts State Police said in the early stages of the investigation that there were two victims.

Shortly after 5 p.m., state and local police responded to reports of shots fired on Memorial Drive near Ames Street. A large police presence was seen following the incident.

One person was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Two cars at the scene appeared to have bullet holes in their windshields. Witnesses told NBC 10 Boston that at least two people were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.

Cambridge police described the incident as a road rage incident and said state police will investigate because Memorial Drive is under state oversight.

State police said the suspect was at the scene.

The authorities said there was no danger to the population.
