Former student arrested after Instagram threat against Murrieta school – Press Enterprise

Police have arrested a former teenage student who allegedly made a threat against a Murrieta middle school on Instagram.

According to a Murrieta Police press release, officers learned around 11:19 p.m. Saturday that an Instagram user had made threats against Warm Springs Middle School.

School security officials responded and learned that the threats came from a 13-year-old former student.

Police obtained a search warrant for the teen's home. They arrested the teen on suspicion of making threats and seized four firearms belonging to a family member whose identity was not released by police.

While police believe there is no further threat to the school, they said they will be “extra vigilant” during the coming school week and plan to deploy additional staff to Warm Springs Middle School and other schools if needed.
