Guardians candidate Chase DeLauter returns to form after injury

The Cleveland Guardian have one of the best farm systems in baseball. One reason for this high rating is that Cleveland's first-round pick for the 2022 draft Chase DeLauterwho is currently the organization's second-best prospect according to MLB Pipeline.

DeLauter has had an up-and-down season, largely due to his injuries. The outfielder has only played in 32 minor league games with the Akron RubberDucks (Double-A) in 2024 due to a broken ankle and a toe injury earlier this season.

Butut DeLauter is finally showing why he was asked to make the Major League Opening Day roster during spring training as he puts injuries behind him and returns to form.

Before Sunday's game, DeLauter had a slash line of .315/.339/.593 and an OPS of .932 since July 20. He continued the streak with a home run against the Detroit Tigers rookie. Jackson Jobewho ranks eighth among baseball's young talents.

DeLauter has now hit a home run in three consecutive games and is also on a hitting streak for nine straight games.

It's great to see DeLauter playing at a high level and finding his momentum. If DeLauter continues this streak, perhaps the organization will consider promoting him to Triple-A where he can continue his development.

There were never any concerns about what the 22-year-old could do when he stepped in the field. DeLauter has natural power and was one of the most capable hitters in the 2022 draft. However, injuries certainly slowed his development in his first two professional seasons. Thankfully, he is finally getting back into form.
