Every Death in My Hero Academia's Final War

Death is a concept that is present in My Hero Academia since the beginning of the story, showing several characters who were killed outright or later died due to wounds sustained in battle. In the final arc, a large-scale war takes place between the heroes and the villains led by Shigaraki and All for One, with fighting taking place on various fronts, so it is natural that there will be deaths as a result of these large-scale battles.

The Final War arc left lasting consequences for some characters: Endeavor and Miruko suffered severe injuries, Edgeshot sacrificed his body and underwent a physical change, Bakugo died temporarily, and Dabi is nearing death due to the extent of the damage to his body.

6 Gigantomachia died at the hands of his master

My Hero Academia, Chapter 385: The Impulses of Youth


In My Hero Academia Chapter 384, after Gigantomachia escapes Shinso's control, the giant villain confronts All for One about why he abandoned him all this time. A flashback shows AFO asking Machia to hide, telling him how sad he was that he had to be apart and that he would come back to him. Gigantomachia said he trusted his master and had been waiting for him, only for AFO to never come back again.

These were Gigantomachia's true feelings, as Shinso revealed that even while controlled by his Quirk, he muttered about being betrayed. Gigantomachia then attacks All for One on his own accord, and Mt. Lady and Tokoyami also take the opportunity to strike the Demon Lord, forcing him to rewind over and over again. However, All for One launches a powerful attack, severely injuring Mt. Lady and killing Gigantomachia instantly. Gigantomachia was killed without mercyand showed that he was just another expendable ally for AFO.

5 Himiko Toga sacrifices herself for love

My Hero Academia, Chapter 395: Built on the Happiness of Others


The fight between Ochako Uraraka and Himiko Toga showed the tragic past of the villain who was blinded by hatred and vengeance for Twice's death. One of Toga's clones seriously injured Uraraka by stabbing her in the stomach, but she didn't care about the extent of her injury and continued to try to reason with her. After the emotional exchange, Uraraka managed to touch Toga's heart with her sincere actions and words.

However, due to blood loss, Uraraka was in serious condition. Toga decides to use her specialty to give Uraraka a blood transfusion from her own body and save herto make amends for her actions and sacrifice herself after she was truly happy for once. Toga died after achieving her dream because despite all the wrong deeds she had committed, deep down in her heart she only longed to be understood, accepted and loved by someone.


4 Stain was killed after saving his hero

My Hero Academia, Chapter 401: The Madman

Stain joins the Final War to assist All Might in his fight against All for One. Stain licked a stain of All for One's blood from rubble to activate his specialty “Bloodcurdle” and paralyze the Demon Lord, giving All Might the opportunity to attack him. However, All for One used a combination of his specialties: “Bloodlet”, which allows him to expel his blood from his body, and “Antigen Swap” to change his blood type and counteract Stain's specialty, overcoming his paralysis.

All for One then attacks Stain, to brutally ram him into a building and steal his specialty. Stain dies happy after being able to help his idol, which is shown by him striking a victory pose just like All Might, encouraging him to live and knowing that his hero will triumph over All for One.


3 Kurogiri died while fulfilling his duty to the end

In My Hero Academia Chapter 422: Kurogiri has all available heroes join him in assisting Deku in his final battle against All for One. This action overuses Kurogiri's specialty, Warp Gate, because when Eraser Head recalls him, the mist forming his body seems to disappear. Although Kurogiri was created using the corpse of Oboro Shirakumo, he was still a Nomu, so after abusing his specialty, the body could no longer take it and began to decay.


Kurogiri struggled to understand his duty, but he remembered that the task assigned to him was to watch over Shigaraki. Kurogiri deformed to prevent Deku's attack and save Shigaraki, begging AFO to give up control of him. His deteriorating body and Bakugo's explosion clearing Deku's path pushed Kurogiri to his limits and he disappeared. Although it is a sad ending for the character, He tries to protect Shigaraki until the end and fulfills the purpose for which he was createdand his death will finally bring closure to Eraser Head and Present Mic.

2 All for one died a miserable death

My Hero Academia Chapter 423: One for all vs. all for one


All For One's actual body died upon his encounter with Bakugo, who reminded him of Kudo, the second OFA user who freed his brother Yoichi, and blinded AFO with his emotions. Bakugo attacked All For One and he was forced to rewind himself and turn into a baby. After becoming a baby, AFO was still able to use his Quirks, but when he tried to reach Shigaraki, Bakugo intervened with one final attack. Eventually, All For One rewinds himself again until he disappears completely. However, All for One returns after taking control of Shigaraki's body.

Deku confronted AFO, telling him he was not a Demon Lord, but just a lonely man. AFO is then confronted with a small fragment of Yoichi's remnant after Deku transferred the remaining part of OFA's quirk to Shigaraki. In this exchange, it is revealed that deep down, despite being a twisted and selfish villain, AFO was still a human who missed his brother. AFO tries to hold onto One For All's small flame, clinging to it in a pitiful state and screaming at Yoichi to show him his face again. but is ultimately defeated by the remnants of the other OFA users.


1 Shigaraki Tomura/Tenko Shimura died after they were finally free

My Hero Academia, Chapter 423: One for All vs. All for One

Although Shigaraki's body was taken over by All For One for the second time, his consciousness was protected and brought back by Nana Shimura's remains, and after AFO is defeated, he is able to speak to Deku one last time. Shigaraki acknowledges what Deku did and tells him that he succeeded in protecting everything. Shigaraki tells Deku his final words, which are addressed to his friend Spinner, and his smile shows that he died the way he wanted, as he was not controlled for the first time in his life and knew that he had fulfilled his desire to fight and destroy.


In the end, Shigaraki's body, which had already begun to decay, crumbles to dust after being hit by Deku's final blow. Shigaraki became the hero of the villains and his legacy lives on through the words of his friend Spinner. His death also inspired Izuku and is slowly changing the world by influencing others to help those in need.
