Child shot during robbery at Planet Fitness; 2 suspects arrested

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A robbery at a Planet Fitness gym and a chase with police led to the arrest of two people on Sunday.

On Sunday around 6:30 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to a Planet Fitness on West 38th Street after a person was shot during a robbery. Investigators say the victim was a child who was in stable condition and taken to a local hospital.

At the same time, a shooting was reported on the southwest side near Rockville Road and South Mickley Avenue. From that call, Indiana State Police troopers pursued a stolen vehicle. The stolen vehicle crashed near West Morris Street and High School Road on the west side of town near Ben Davis High School. The two occupants fled but were later arrested. Police are still investigating but believe the two incidents are related.
