Ferozepur: Main accused in drug trafficking case with 77 kg ends up in police net

Lakhbir Singh, Deputy Inspector General of CI in Ferozepur, revealed that the accused Sikander Singh had links with smugglers based in Pakistan.

The Ferozepur Counter Intelligence (CI) on Sunday arrested a main accused wanted in connection with the 77 kg heroin trafficking case in August 2023 and seized arms and ammunition from his possession.

Lakhbir Singh, Deputy Inspector General of CI, Ferozepur, announced that Sikander Singh, a resident of Deep Singh Wala village in Faridkot district, was abducted from Behak Pacharia village in Zira sub-district of Ferozepur district.

Besides, two 9mm pistols, four magazines, 100 cartridges, one Zigana pistol, two magazines and 15 cartridges were recovered from his possession at the time of arrest, Lakhbir added.

AIG said that during the investigation it emerged that the defendant had ties to smugglers based in Pakistan.

“A case has been registered against the accused under Sections 21(C) and 29 of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act. We are questioning him to get further information,” Lakhbir said.
