Truck catches fire after single-vehicle accident in Navarra

NAVARRE, Fla. (WALA) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a single-vehicle crash on SR-87 resulted in a vehicle fire that left the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

According to officials, a Ford F-150 carrying one person was traveling south on SR-87 when it crossed the median and continued south in the northbound lanes.

According to FHP, the truck then left the roadway and collided with a handrail and a sewer.

Authorities said evidence suggested the driver then accelerated into the ditch and crashed into a power pole.

According to officials, the truck then rolled over at least once, landed on its roof and then caught fire.

The driver was trapped in the vehicle, but authorities said firefighters managed to pull him out and extinguish the fire.

The driver was flown to a nearby trauma center for treatment. Authorities said the investigation was ongoing.
