Kidnapped Anambra commissioner and wife regain freedom — Nigeria — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Patrick Aghamba, Commissioner for Youth Development in Anambra State, and his wife, who were abducted on their way to Abuja last Friday, have been released.

As the Guardian learnt, Aghamba's assistant ABK Offiah, who was travelling with the family, was unlucky as he was killed by the kidnappers.

According to information, the family was released on Saturday.

Governor Charles Soludo's spokesman, Christian Aburime, confirmed the incident and said no ransom was paid for their release.
“The release was achieved through divine providence,” he said.

The spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, could not be reached for comment.

Meanwhile, mourning broke out yesterday in the commercial city of Onitsha among family members and well-wishers following the repatriation of Offiah's remains.

It was also discovered that Offiah, a youth leader, holds the traditional title of “Kpajiego” in the Onitsha community.
