Several Hollywood legends have died at the same time, a number of reports share the tragic news

Alain Delon, the famous French actor best known for his iconic roles in the films of New Wave director Jean-Pierre Melville, especially The Samouraidied at the age of 88.

According to a statement from his family to AFP news agency, “he died peacefully in his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and his family.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the death of writer and creator Patt Shea was also announced today.

Patt Shea, the Norman Lear regular who co-wrote the 1979 series finale of All in the Family and worked on two spin-offs of the legendary sitcom, Archie Bunker's Place and Gloria, has died. She was 93 years old.

Shea died of natural causes at her home in Sherman Oaks on April 12, her son Michael Shea, a director and assistant director, told The Hollywood Reporter. Although she died months ago, her death is only now being discussed publicly.

“Patt Shea was a pioneer in comedy writing,” Michael explained. “Her achievements as a writer of groundbreaking sitcoms were surpassed only by her generosity and compassion for others.”

Patt Shea received her first TV script role in 1977 on The Jeffersons, She also worked with Lear on the spin-off “Sanford,” the McLean Stevenson-directed “In the Beginning,” and the Terrence McNally-created “Mama Malone.”

She also worked with Everything in the familyy stars Carroll O'Connor and Jean Stapleton in their follow-up series, In the Heat of the night And Baghdad Caférespectively.

The Hollywood Reporter also confirmed: “Bob Weatherwax, who trained dogs that played Lassie, as a member of the famous family that also taught Hollywood dogs a thing or two in The Thin Man (Asta), The Wizard of Oz (Toto) and Old Screamer (Spike), died. He was 83.”
