Mayor of Baton Rouge mourns dedicated office manager Simon Pillette after tragic death

Simon Pillette, office manager of the mayor’s office of the city of Baton Rouge, has died.

Pillette, an administrative assistant with a long and successful career, died in an accident.

She served as office manager for Baton Rouge Mayor Sharon Weston Broome's office and was administrative assistant to Broome's deputy chief administrative officer, Leslie Ricard Chambers, Esq.

Pillette's death was announced in a statement by Mayor Weston Broome.

In the statement, she announced the death of Pillette, whom she praised for her immense talent in keeping the office running like a well-oiled machine. She revealed that in addition to her position as office manager, she had also taken on other equally important responsibilities.

“It is with deep sadness that I share the news of the passing of Simone Pillette, a dedicated public servant and valued member of our team. As our office manager, Simone was the heart of our office. She was a dedicated leader, fielded many requests from our citizens, and played an important role on the Mayor's Advisory Board on Veterans Affairs,” began the explanation.

Mayor Sharon Weston Broome continued to eulogize Pillette, emphasizing that in addition to her professional talents, she was also a warm, caring and beautiful person outside of work. She stated that Pillette was God fearing and embodied the best of Christianity.

Beyond her professional contributions, Simone was a wonderful and caring person who lit up the room with her presence and brought positive energy to everyone around her. Her love for God was evident in everything she did and guided her interactions with grace and compassion.”

Broome urged people to honor her memory by devoting their time to the causes she was passionate about.

“We will miss Simone very much, but her legacy will accompany us on our way into the future,” she added.

Most comments on social media also supported this view, with many praising Simon for her dedication as a civil servant.

“Simone was a great public servant with a heart for people and an angelic spirit!! Heaven rejoice!” it said in one article.
