Republican District Attorney candidate calls for immediate dismissal of Young Thug YSL trial

Courtney Kramer, the Republican candidate for Fulton County District Attorney, has publicly called on current District Attorney Fani Willis to immediately drop the ongoing trial against Young Thug YSL.

In a statement published on X on August 17, Kramer criticized the trial for being more about achieving fame than justice for the community.

“I urge my opponent to do the same, do the right thing, dismiss the case and release the defendants in this case who are being held without bail,” she wrote.

Kramer, who currently works as an attorney at The Katz Legal Group and previously worked in the White House under Donald Trump, has consistently argued that the trial should have been over by now.

She expressed disappointment at the lack of oversight by the prosecution and the amount of taxpayer money spent on a case that she said was based on the testimony of unreliable witnesses.

She vowed that dropping the YSL case would be her first act as district attorney if elected, stating, “If elected, I intend to bring justice, transparency and integrity back to the district attorney's office.”

At the heart of the trial against Young Thug YSL, which began in 2022, are allegations that the rapper ran a criminal gang under the guise of his record label YSL.

Kramer called the trial a “waste of time for the court” and accused the current prosecution of lacking preparation and failing to present exculpatory evidence.

She stressed that her campaign was not about partisanship, but about doing the right thing for the community.

Kramer has outlined her plans to make community safety a top priority, address the backlog of rape kits and combat politically motivated prosecutions if she is elected Fulton County's next district attorney.

She concludes her statement with a call for integrity, fairness and the protection of constitutional freedoms in the public prosecutor's office.
