Driver charged in Lenawee County crash that left 4 dead and 1 seriously injured

MACON TOWNSHIP, Michigan. – A driver has been charged in connection with a crash between two pickup trucks that left four people dead and another seriously injured in Lenawee County.

The accident occurred on September 4, 2023 at approximately 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Britton Highway and Milwaukee Road in Macon Township.

According to authorities, a white Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling south on Britton Highway when it was struck by a gray Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling east on Milwaukee Road.

The driver and two passengers of the Ford F-150 were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger was taken to ProMedica Hickman Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, all four men were from Lenawee County. They were 35, 33, 23 and 18 years old.

F-250 driver charged

After the accident, the 55-year-old driver of the F-250 from Adrian was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor with injuries classified as life-threatening.

On Friday, August 16, 2024, authorities announced that he was the suspected at-fault driver involved in the accident.

He was arrested on Thursday and charged with four counts of reckless driving causing death.

He is being held in the Lenawee County Jail pending arraignment.
