Italians and French fight against speed traps

By Richard Diamond/Staff Reports

In Italy, the lawyer for alleged speed camera destroyer Fleximan is now helping drivers fight back against automated parking tickets – within the law. Lawyer Giorgia Furlanetto is setting up a website called SiamotuttiFleximan, which means “We are all Fleximan,” to give laypeople instructions on how to fight photo violations in court without a lawyer. Italy's highest court recently laid a solid foundation for challenging parking tickets issued by devices that have not been properly certified.

“Appeals are the only means available to drivers to legally 'cancel' illegal speed traps and unjustified fines,” Furlanetto told the newspaper Corriere del Veneto. “So anyone can become a 'Fleximan' by using the means that the law makes available to us.”

In Molac, France, vigilante groups set fire to the radar device on the RD5 on Tuesday.
