The questions the CBI asked the former head of a Kolkata hospital about the rape and murder case of a doctor

The CBI is also investigating Sandip Ghosh’s call and chat records.

New Delhi/Calcutta:

The controversial former director of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital is facing grueling questioning as part of the investigation into the rape and murder of a doctor. The CBI has been questioning Sandip Ghosh for the past three days till midnight and has summoned him again today.

Here are some questions the CBI has asked him over the past three days:

  • Why was this death so quickly declared a suicide?
  • You are a doctor yourself. Wasn't it important for you to secure the crime scene?
  • On whose advice was the information passed on to the family and why did it contain no facts?
  • You realize that tampering with evidence at a crime scene is a crime, but why didn't you keep the evidence until the investigation was completed?
  • Why was the doctor’s family not informed until several hours later?
  • Why did it take so long to hand over the body to her family?
  • What safety precautions apply in the hospital?
  • Why did you resign immediately after the incident? What is the reason for this?

According to official information, the former headmaster has not yet provided satisfactory answers to these questions.

Dr Ghosh, who resigned two days after the incident, was also questioned about his steps immediately after the doctor's body was found and the sudden renovation of the premises near the seminar hall where the doctor's body was found.

The CBI, which is also probing his call and chat records, has asked him to provide details of his phone conversations before and after the August 9 incident. They also plan to obtain his call and data usage details from the service provider.

The incident, followed by rape and murder, sparked a wave of outrage across the country, with doctors suspending non-urgent services and taking to the streets demanding justice.
