Corn buying mission takes tragic turn when two men are killed in Moiben

Two persons, including a truck driver and a villager, were attacked and hacked to death by unknown assailants at Tugen estate in Uasin Gishu county.

Moiben sub-county police chief Stephen Okal said the turnboy and a truck driver were driving to the area to buy maize when their vehicle broke down on Sunday evening.

According to police, the driver had a security guard guard the truck while he searched for a spare part in the city of Eldoret, more than 30 kilometers away.

The truck driver then asked a local resident for help guarding the truck while they waited for the driver to return.

“While the two were waiting, they were attacked by an unknown group and hacked to death,” Okal said.

The sub-district police chief said when the driver returned, his loader and the villager were found dead.

Okal said they are investigating the incident and no suspect has been arrested so far

The bodies of the two were taken to Moi Referral Hospital while the truck was taken to a nearby police station.

The maize was to be transported to Kutus in Kirinyaga County.
