Coroner names Rockford man killed in shooting

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Police are searching for answers after a shooting in the early hours of Sunday morning left one man dead and two others hospitalized.

Martayvious Evans, 26, of Rockford, was identified as the victim of a shooting in the 4500 block of Governor's Drive in Rockford, the Winnebago County Coroner's Office announced Monday.

Officials said they were called around 3:50 a.m. on August 18 for a shooting and a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found Evans had been shot multiple times. Evans died at a nearby hospital.

Police later learned of a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the arm and hand and a 35-year-old woman who had been shot in the lower leg. Both were treated and released from area hospitals.
