Oregon drug lord sentenced to eight years in prison

PORTLAND, Oregon (KPTV) – The leader of an Oregon-based drug trafficking ring was sentenced to 97 months, or just over eight years, in federal prison Monday following an extensive DEA investigation.

Horacio Luna-Perez, 42, of Hillsboro, was a key figure in an organization that trafficked drugs such as meth, heroin and fentanyl in Portland and Eastern Washington. The U.S. Attorney's Office says the group has ties to a Mexico-based drug cartel.

During the investigation, DEA agents identified another man, 34-year-old Jesus Miramontes-Castaneda, who ran a separate drug trafficking ring in Portland and Salem.

Luna-Perez and Miramontes-Castaneda were also sentenced to five years probation.
