48-year-old man charged with alleged assault after bar brawl in Center Line

Joel Anthony Martinez, 48, of Roseville was charged in connection with a bar fight that left a man seriously injured in Center Line.

Martinez was allegedly harassing patrons at Te Roma Bar in Center Line on Saturday, August 17, when he struck a 50-year-old man, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete.

According to official information, the victim is still in the hospital's intensive care unit.

Martinez, who allegedly struck a second man, was charged with aggravated assault (a misdemeanor punishable by one year in prison), battery (a misdemeanor punishable by 93 days in prison) and disturbing the peace (a misdemeanor punishable by 90 days in prison).

The 48-year-old was arraigned in Centerline's 37th District Court, where bail was set at $5,000 cash/surety.

If released, Martinez will be banned from having any contact with the victim, witnesses or the Te Roma Bar and will be required to wear an alcohol bracelet.
