Massachusetts man wins $1 million lottery after car breakdown

SALEM, Mass. (WWLP) – A Salem resident is celebrating after winning a $1 million prize in the Massachusetts State Lottery’s “$4,000,000 Mayhem” instant lottery game.

The Salem resident chose to receive his prize in the form of a lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes.

The winner, who recently had a car breakdown, plans to use part of his winnings to purchase a new vehicle. His winning ticket was purchased at the Salem 7 Food Store, located at 126 North Street in Salem. The store will also benefit from the sale and will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The $4,000,000 Mayhem ticket costs $10 and has overall odds of 1 in 3.47. All three $4,000,000 prizes have been claimed.
