Herminio Torres Jr., 40, faces multiple charges of aggravated assault and armed robbery in connection with the attack on Sunday afternoon.

According to Phoenix police, the attack occurred near 43rd Avenue and Encanto Boulevard in Maryvale.

Authorities said Torres and three other men approached the victim, a grocery clerk, at the intersection when one of the suspects pulled out a knife and pointed it at the victim.

Court documents say all suspects “punched the victim multiple times in the head” until he managed to run away and call police.

The suspects then allegedly stole the victim's golf cart and parked it nearby. One of the suspects allegedly took the keys to the cart.

When police arrived, Torres was observed driving away and was arrested during a traffic stop.

The arresting officer found a pocket knife on Torres that allegedly matched the description of the knife given by the victim.

After his arrest, Torres reportedly refused to comment on the allegations.

According to police, the unidentified victim had bruising, discoloration and swelling on his head.

Torres was booked into the Maricopa County Jail and held on $75,000 bail.
