Centennial of Corona quarterback Husan Longstreet is battling an unspecified injury that makes his status uncertain for Thursday's season-opening game against Mater Dei, Huskies football coach Matt Logan said Monday afternoon.

“He's day-to-day,” Logan said. “We won't know (his status) until the game starts.”

Mater Dei hosts Centennial at Santa Ana Stadium in one of the most highly anticipated season openers in the country. Mater Dei is ranked No. 1 in the country according to MaxPreps, while Centennial is No. 8.

Longstreet, a senior who is committed to Texas A&M, begins the season after securing a spot in the prestigious Elite 11 camp in June.

He is rated by 247Sports as a five-star recruit and the top talent in California's class of 2025. Cornerback Dijon Lee Jr. of Mission Viejo, who has committed to Alabama, is ranked second.

Longstreet (6-2, 195) capped off his summer passing season by competing in the Surf City Tournament, held in Huntington Beach on July 20.

Last season, Longstreet threw for 3,013 yards and 24 touchdowns, leading the Huskies to a 9-3 record and a CIF-SS Division 1 semifinal appearance. He ran for 645 yards and seven TDs.

Centennial hosts Santa Margarita on August 30th in one of the top games of Week 1.
