Four weeks after withdrawing from the presidential campaign, US President Joe Biden recently endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's presidential candidate at the Democratic Party convention in Chicago. In his speech at the convention, Biden chanted the freedom slogan from Harris' campaign.

“Are you ready to vote for freedom?” Biden asked the Democratic Party cadres and supporters at the DNC, who responded with a loud cheer of “Yes, yes.”

During his stirring speech, which was punctuated by shouts of “Thank you, Joe,” Biden listed his and Harris' accomplishments and attacked Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Here are the key points of his speech so far:

  1. Progress in four years: Biden boasted about his administration's performance over the past four years, saying, “Covid no longer controls our lives. We've gone from an economic crisis to the strongest economy in the world.” He pointed out that during his and Kamala's tenure, a record 16 million new jobs were created and the stock market hit record highs. “Record growth in small businesses… wages are rising, inflation is falling, falling sharply and continuing to fall.”

  2. Victory over the pharmaceutical industry: Regarding his efforts to lower prescription drug prices, Biden said, “We have finally defeated the pharmaceutical industry.”

He emphasized Kamala’s role in this context and pointed out that the vote of the “Vice President and future President” was decisive.
