Police confirm: arrest in Rome was a case of domestic violence

New York State Police have confirmed that the arrest of a Blossvale man on August 11 was the result of a domestic violence incident to which they were called.

Police arrest 40-year-old Michael A. Perron on the following allegations:

Third Degree Robbery (Class D Felony)

Third Degree Criminal Damage to Property (Class E Felony)

Grand Theft in the Fourth Degree (Class E Felony)

Third Degree Threatening (Class B Misdemeanor)

Third degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (class A misdemeanor)

(2) Charges – Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)

Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree (Class A Misdemeanor)

Harassment 2nd degree (violation)

According to police, Peron was arrested following an investigation that began on August 9, 2024. He allegedly threatened a female victim, forcibly took and damaged her cell phone, and pushed the victim while two young children were sitting on her lap.

According to police, the next morning, August 10, Perron took the victim's vehicle without permission and left the home. The victim was able to contact state police, who came to the home and questioned her. During the investigation, the victim turned over an illegal rifle belonging to Perron, which police say was not used during the previous domestic dispute.

State police found Perron at his residence on August 11, 2024 with an arrest warrant. Perron was booked into State Police in Lee and held in the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment in CAP Court on Monday, August 12, 2024.

After an EF-2 tornado touched down in Rome on Wednesday, Central New York rallied to help the devastated city. Within hours, people filled a semi-trailer with water bottles to help those in need.

Old Farmer's Almanac predicts first frost for Central New York

Whether we like it or not, fall officially begins on September 22. Although there is still a long way to go before we feel the cool embrace of crisp fall weather, the Old Farmer's Almanac has released its predictions for when Chinese New Year 2024 might see the first frost.

With a colder and snowier winter forecast, the ground may be covered in frost a little earlier than previously expected.
