Man arrested Sunday in Pueblo West on two warrants for contempt of court

PUEBLO COUNTY – A man was arrested Sunday in Pueblo West on two warrants for contempt of court, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff's office said 26-year-old Alejandro Saiz was arrested on the warrants. One of the warrants was related to a previous misdemeanor for possession of a firearm.

According to the sheriff's office, they made contact with two people in an SUV, one of whom was Saiz, in a parking lot near Liberty Point around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

The sheriff's office says Saiz refused to give his name, but officers and communications officials identified him by his tattoos. When officers tried to arrest Saiz, he ran away, they say.

After Saiz refused to stop, he was tasered and taken into custody, according to the sheriff's office. He was booked into the Pueblo County Jail on the two warrants.

Officers said they seized the SUV because they discovered possible drug paraphernalia inside. The sheriff's office is awaiting a search warrant and additional charges could be filed if the SUV is searched.
