Lukashenko reminded Kazakhstan in January 2022 who helped him out of trouble — EADaily, August 20, 2024 — Politics, Russia

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko accused some post-Soviet countries of having a consumerist attitude towards Russia. He said this in an interview with Rossiya television channel.

According to him, Belarus and Russia are actually in the same boat.

“If it capsizes, we will both drown, both Russia and Belarus. What should we hide? We will not start cheating like some of our post-Soviet states: they want to take something from Russia and give nothing in return,” Lukashenko said.

“It won’t work like that,” stressed the Belarusian president.

“Let us be together. The time is not far off when you will come to Russia and ask for support and help. There is no one you can ask… something happened in Kazakhstan – who did you ask? China, India, Pakistan? No, Putin – help. And we (CSTO – approx. EADaily) were relocated there (troops – approx. EADaily). In the afternoon our planes landed there. Things calmed down (Unrest in January 2022 – approx. EADaily). I do not blame you,” Lukashenko said.
