Avicii's personal items will be auctioned for charity 6 years after his tragic death

Trigger warning: This article contains references to suicide

Avicii was one of the most famous DJs in the world. The Swedish musician died in 2018 and now, six years after his passing, an auction is being held in his memory, which will also benefit the cause he fought for.

The Waiting For Love musician's personal belongings will be auctioned for charity, Stockholms Auktionsverk announced.

The announcement on Monday, August 19, stated that the Hey Brother artist's personal items would be auctioned both during an in-person live session and online.

The statement goes on to say that the auction is being held in aid of the late DJ's charity. According to PEOPLE, the items were donated by his family.

The outlet's report also mentions that the auction is called “The Avicii Collection” and includes 267 items, ranging from shoes and clothing to the artist's musical instruments and even memorabilia.

According to a press release, the auction house will not receive any commission from the sale of Avicii's belongings, which will go directly to the Tim Bergling Foundation.

Referring to the deceased musician, whose real name was Tim Bergling, the press release also said: “Family, friends, colleagues and millions of fans around the world will miss him forever.”

According to PEOPLE, the live auction is scheduled to take place on October 1 at 3 p.m. local time. The event will take place at the legendary Nybrogatan 32 auction house in Stockholm, but the items can also be auctioned online.

To allow the local public to have a look at the artist's pieces “I Could Be The One”, they will be unveiled on September 6th, while the viewing will take place from the 24th to the 30th of the same month.

According to Rolling Stones, the Tim Bergling Foundation was established posthumously in 2019 and continues to support Avicii's efforts by raising funds for charities such as House of Hunger, Feed for America and RED.

The Tim Bergling Foundation's website states that the charity is “committed to recognizing suicide as a global health crisis” and even works to help people overcome the stigma.

The auction house first posted about the event on Instagram. Avicii died on April 20, 2018.
