Crime in Chicago: Police say woman is held at gunpoint in car theft on South Side

Chicago police said a woman was the victim of an armed carjacking on the South Side Tuesday morning.

CHICAGO (WLS) — According to Chicago police, a woman was threatened with car theft at gunpoint on the South Side on Tuesday morning.

A 50-year-old woman was standing next to a blue Volkswagen sedan in the 6100 block of South Eberhart Avenue around 4:30 a.m. when police said two suspects approached on foot.

One of the suspects pulled out a gun and demanded the vehicle, and the woman complied with his request, police said.

The suspects got into the limousine and fled the scene, police said. The woman was not injured.

The vehicle was later found in the 6800 block of South Lafayette Avenue, police said.

No one is in custody and the police are investigating.
