Max Eberl informs about Leroy Sané’s injury

Max Eberl has revealed when Leroy Sané can realistically be expected to return to action after he missed the entire pre-season due to injury.

Leroy Sané underwent groin surgery last month to fix the problem that hampered him in the second half of last season and at the European Championships. The winger returned to team training earlier this week and there are hopes he will be able to return to the team soon.

However, Bayern Munich's sporting director Max Eberl has now revealed that Sané will probably be back on the pitch after the international break. If that is actually the case, the 28-year-old would miss Bayern's Bundesliga games against VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg. “I don't know whether it makes sense to use him before the international break,” said Eberl (via BILD).

Sané missed many games in the second half of last season due to a pubic bone injury. He played in the decisive UEFA Champions League matches despite the pain. He also suffered from the injury at this summer's European Championships and after Germany's elimination in the quarter-finals he decided to have an operation.

The hope at Bayern is that Sané can finally put his injury behind him and find his form from the first half of last season. The German international will play a crucial role for Bayern this season and could line up alongside the likes of Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane in attack.
