New Haven man pleads guilty to weapons and drug charges after March arrest

NEW HAVEN — A 23-year-old New Haven man has pleaded guilty to multiple drug and weapons charges following his arrest in mid-March, authorities said.

Shayquan Gray, also known as “Scooby,” pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine with the intent to resell and possession of a firearm to commit a drug offense, the state Department of Criminal Justice said in a news release Tuesday.

Gray had a Connecticut State Police warrant out for his arrest when he was “observed in a drug deal,” federal officials said. The agency said Gray was “in possession of a Ziploc bag containing 80 small individual bags of cocaine, a Polymer 80 'Ghost Gun' with six rounds of ammunition in the magazine and over $1,200 in cash.”

According to officials, Gray has been in custody since his arrest on March 14. Sentencing is scheduled for November 12 in Hartford.
