18-year-old allegedly staged fatal drive-by shooting

ASCENSION PARISH, Louisiana (WAFB) – The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested two people suspected of being involved in a fatal shooting on a highway.

The Sheriff's Office released the following press release about the arrests:

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives arrested Aniyah Williams, 18, of Baton Rouge, and Quinndarius Dabney, 19, of Donaldsonville, as part of a murder investigation. Dabney is charged with first-degree murder, drive-by assault, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage. Williams is charged with primary responsibility for the crimes.

On Friday, March 29, at approximately 3:00 a.m., detectives responded to a homicide on I10 East in Prairieville. Upon arrival, detectives found Chakerus Hamilton Jr. in his vehicle, dead from a gunshot wound. During their investigation, detectives identified Williams and Dabney as suspects. Detectives discovered that the suspects were acquainted with Hamilton and had staged his death.

Williams was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail. Dabney was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and will be booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
