Two people suffer minor injuries in traffic accident in Linn County

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Two people were treated for minor injuries following a crash in Cedar Rapids Tuesday morning.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred around 10:33 a.m. on the Highway 30 eastbound exit ramp to 80th Street.

First responders said a red 2013 Ford Escape was located at the intersection of Highway 30 eastbound, 80th Street exit.

The driver stopped at the stop sign but failed to yield the right of way to a white 2024 Nissan Frontier traveling south on 80th Street.

The Frontier struck the driver's side of the Escape, causing it to go into the ditch.

The Frontier then spun and blocked the eastbound turning lane to Highway 30. After the impact, the airbags in both vehicles deployed.

Firefighters had to use extrication tools to free the driver from the Escape. She was then taken to the hospital with minor injuries. She was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Frontier was hospitalized for minor aches and shoulder pain.

The driver of the Escape was cited for ignoring a stop sign.
