Corey LaJoie suffered a horrific crash on Monday during the NASCAR Cup Series FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway. LaJoie, driving the No. 7 Chevrolet, lost control of his vehicle, resulting in a dramatic crash that caused his car to roll over and slide down the track on its roof. Miraculously, LaJoie emerged from the wreckage unharmed, although the same could not be said for his car or his luck this season.

Denny Hamlin, who witnessed the accident, spoke harshly about LaJoie’s performance on team radio, saying:

“Corey LaJoie is just out of control, man. He's his own worst enemy.”

However, LaJoie's perspective on the incident sheds light on what might seem like a chain of bad luck.

In an interview with Dustin Long of NBC Sports, LaJoie revealed his frustration, noting that this season has been particularly tough as his car rolled over twice. He commented:

“That's pretty much how the year has gone. We have a good car and I find a way to turn it upside down. We've been upside down twice this year and I've never been upside down in my whole career.

“Unfortunately, that's how the year was for Team No. 7 all year long. We were fast, but couldn't get it together. Team No. 10 [Noah Gragson] I have been hacked a few times, especially [Turn] 2 if I was on a roll.

“I haven't seen a replay yet… whether he pulled it off the wall when I tried to get to his left rear to slow him down. But it was a ride, mate.

“There were sparks, dirt and everything flying in. I just think it's terrible that our Garner Trucking Camaro got a little battered and damaged. I think we had a car in the top 10-12 today, but we ended up on the roof.”
