Attorney Gloria Allred talks about Vice President Harris and the fight to protect women's rights

Two years have passed since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending the constitutional right to abortion that women had enjoyed for nearly half a century.

Since then, the issue has been brought to state legislatures, with some codifying the law and others enacting strict bans. The issue also played a central role in the presidential campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.

Gloria Allred is a renowned women's rights advocate. On Tuesday evening, she spoke to Scripps News at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago about why she believes Harris is the right candidate to beat Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“If vice president is elected, Kamala Harris has promised – if we can also win a majority in the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate – that she will sign a bill to codify Roe v. Wade,” Allred said. “That means re-legalizing it, passing it into law. That's why I'm going to fight to make her win as president of the United States.”
