Two Vancouver police officers charged with assault after off-duty incident – BC

Two Vancouver Police Department officers have been charged with assault in connection with an incident late last year.

Officers Joshua Wong and Brian Hunt were both off-duty at the time of the incident, which occurred in Vancouver in December 2023.

Vancouver police said they had notified the Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner (OPCC) and that New Westminster police had launched a criminal investigation.

Neither of the two officers is currently serving in an operational capacity.

Following the conclusion of the criminal investigation, an OPCC investigation will be resumed under the Police Act.

Both Wong and Hunt are scheduled to appear in court in New Westminster for the first time on September 18.

Police officer Joshua Wong was investigated in connection with the violent beating of Myles Gray in 2015.

No charges were brought against him, but he testified at a judicial inquiry.
