Former Chi Alpha member accused of indecent exposure to a child waives charges

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) – William Johnson, 23, made his first court appearance Tuesday after being charged with sexual assault with a child.

He and his attorney decided not to press charges and opted to skip the hearing and instead plead not guilty.

Charges are being brought against Johnson, Ryan Hoffart, Otto Randolph and Alexander Owens.

Investigators say the group exposed themselves to a 14-year-old boy while they were members of the Mountain Valley Fellowship Church in Brazos County and the Chi Alpha Christian fraternity at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Investigators believe the alleged incident occurred in Johnson's apartment in June 2022.

According to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office, there will be a hearing for Johnson sometime in the next 30 to 60 days.

During this time, officers gather more information about the case, and as the hearing date approaches, the judge meets with all parties.

Arraignments for the other men involved will take place on August 27 at 2:30 p.m. for Ryan Hoffart and on August 27 at 3:00 p.m. for Otto Randolph.

Alexander Owens, who does not have a mugshot, is scheduled to appear in court on September 3 at 3 p.m.
